If you’ve decided to invest in a portable chalkboard, then the likelihood is you’re taking the first of many steps towards investing in your advertising. Although purchasing a portable chalkboard may seem like an easy solution, learning how to utilise it is the next hurdle. So how can you position your chalkboard for maximum impact?
Foot traffic
If you’re on the high street, you’re likely to experience a lot of foot traffic. Although for many who are set off the main high street, strategically placing a portable chalkboard where there’s a lot of traffic can help to raise awareness of your pub and also redirect them.
Whether you’re looking to entice locals or tourists, a sign on the high street pointing towards a little side road where your pub is situated can do a lot to ensure people know you’re there. Combine this with advertising a great deal and you’re on to a sure winner.
Vehicle traffic
For some pubs, foot traffic isn’t really something they have to think about and it’s encouraging the vehicle traffic to stop by that’s more important. The only problem with this is that you need to ensure your sign is big enough to be read in a moving vehicle.
Alternatively, you can use your chalkboard to direct parking and therefore work on creating a seamless customer experience.
The entrance
If you own your own pub, or manage one for a chain, then you’re likely to have noticed many other competitors strategically placing portable chalkboards outside the entrance to their pubs. Most of the time, these entry way signs highlight the latest lunchtime deal or sometimes advertise an upcoming festivity or event that requires pre-booking.
Although this type of placement may not bring in new traffic, by providing relevant and additional information to those already visiting, you may be likely to secure a pre-booking for an event or loyalty from them in future.
Your garden
If you have a garden space, then you need to shout it from the rooftops. Dog owners and families love an outdoor space and if you can offer them good food or a great service then you’re on to a winner.
Place your portable chalkboard at the entrance to your garden, or out front with directions. Or – if you have enough space – in the bar area advertising the outdoor seating. This is only going to be a seasonal thing but worth trying out what works best for you.
Use space
We’ve already briefly touched on using indoor space such as a bar area. Dependant on the size of your indoor area, you can position a portable chalkboard in the foyer, in the restaurant area or in any place where there is a large amount of space.
Just abandoning it in the middle won’t be constructive, so test out different placements to see which is the most effective without getting in the way of your customers.
